1966-09-22 – A meeting is held at La Stella, an Italian restaurant at 102-11 Queens Blvd. in Forest Hills, NY. Secondary FBI source (likely a Carollo soldier) informant indicates the meeting was called to settle a serious New Orleans LCN conflict between Anthony Carollo, the son of the former boss, and the current boss of New Orleans LCN, Carlos Marcello. Carollo was claiming he was not receiving the correct income from the rackets, and was also attempting to get majority support from New Orleans LCN to depose Marcello. The result of the meeting is Marcello remains in power and no disciplinary action is to be taken against Carollo. Carollo’s father, the former New Orleans LCN boss, enjoyed a strong relationship with former Genovese LCN boss Frank Costello. After the meeting, the attendants are eating dinner and are arrested. All are brought down to the old 112th Precinct in Maspeth, strip-searched to their underwear and fingerprinted, though none are charged with any crimes. All are held as material witnesses on $100,000 bail each for a grand jury investigation which results in no indictments. All 13 are bailed out for $1.3m in bail within 24 hours.
